SHEN TAO is honored to have the opportunity to create a fresh approach to the Training and Certification of both Professional Movement Educators and Body Workers.

Our Approach is based on the truth that each student comes to the profession with a unique set of skills, abilities, and their own unique approach to changing the human body.

Our Goal is to support you in discovering and developing these gifts. We believe in your ability to contribute something unique to the fields of either Movement Education, and/or Professional Body Work.

Our Mission is to support you in developing your own voice, your own way of touching, and of teaching.

SHEN TAO's approach to certification is demanding. Our certification process is similar to that of the martial arts. There are five levels of accreditation.
Testing is done one-to-one under the Supervision of director, Bill Hedberg.
Students can test for certification at any time.

1st Degree Certification:   in 50% of Vocabulary/Approach
2nd Degree Certification:  in 100% of Vocabulary/Approach
3rd Degree Certification:   in Advanced Applications

Certification in each of the first three levels is contingent upon:
• Ability to demonstrate/perform vocabulary physically (understanding of syntax, appropriate order of  vocabulary, spatial architecture, rhythm, timing, etc). Grace.
• Ability to touch (pressure, depth, location, timing, rhythm, intention, etc.). Compassion.
• Ability to communicate verbally (use of metaphor, simile, scientific (anatomical) and poetic language, pitch, volume, tempo, etc.). Rapport.

4th Degree:  Master Trainer (authorized to teach other teachers)

5th Degree:  Requires a unique application of the Shen Tao Approach to a parallel movement discipline (martial arts, yoga, dance, athletics, trapeze, etc).
